RESOLUTION DETERMINING SUFFICIENCY OF PETITION
FOR CITY HALL A1\TD SHOP BUILDING BONDS, FIXING
THE F.JCACT AMOUNT OF BONDS TO BE ISSUED AND
CALLING AN ELECTION FOR THE PURPOSE OF VOTING
I ON THE ISSUANCE OF SUCH BoNDS.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BOZE-
MAN, MONTANA,
AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1: It is hereby found and determined that a petition in 48 counter-
parts, ea ch coun terpart having a ttached there to the affidavi t of the circula tor
thereof, was filed with the Clerk of the Commission on October 5, 1~61; that said
petition renuests that an election be held and that there be submitted at such
election the questions of issuing bonds for the fOllowing purposes:
(1) to erect, furnish and equip a city hall
building to house city administrative offices
and the pOlice and fire departments, the amoun t
of bonds necessary to be issued for this
purpose beln~ estimated at $66l,~28.00.
(2 ) to erect, furnish and equip a ShOp build-
ing for the storage and maintenance of vehicles
and equipment of the city water and street
, departments, the amount of bonds necessary to
be issued for this purpose be1ng estimated at
$91,'11ts.UU.
that said petition is in proper form and bears the requisite number of signa-
tures of qualified petitioners, being signed by 913 registered electors wnose
names a~pear upon the Last completed assessment rOil for state and county taxes,
as taxpayers within the City of Bozeman; tha t the total number of persons who
are such taxpayer-electors according to said roll is 4,26u and therefore the
I peti tion has been signed by more than 20% of the total number of taxpayer.:

in the office of the Clerk of the Ci ty ComMission.
SECTION 2: An election is hereby called and directed to be held in and for
the City on Tuesday, the '/ th c1a y of November, 1961, in
the various precincts and
at the poliing piaces as set forth in the notice of election hereinafter contained,
between the hours of ~:vu o'clock A.M. and ~:UO o'clock P.M., for the purpose of
voting on the <.jues tions of issuing Ci"ty HaLL and Shop building Bonds. Said election
shaLl be held coincidentaLLY with the regular city general election on said day,
and the judges and cLerkS of said general election shall BCt as the judges and
clerks of said bond election.
SECTION 3: At said election aLL, but only, the duly registered and qualified
elee tors 'of the City Whose names appear upon the last preceding assessment roll
for state and county taxes, as taxpayers upon property within the City,

entitLed to vote. Tne Clerk of the Connniss1on 1s hereby au thorlzed and .directed
to give notice forthwith to the County Clerk of the call of said election. The
County Clerksha~l, after giving due notice of closing of the registration books,
prepare printed lists of the registered voters entitled to vote at said eLection,
and shaLl prepare precinct registers for such election for eaCh precinct of "the
City in the form and manner required by law.

SECTION 4: The purposes for which said bonds are proposed to be issued and
the exact amount of bonds to be issued for eaCh purpose shall be as set forth in
the form of baLlot hereinafter prescribed. The number of years through which
such
bonds are to be paid shaiL be twenty (20) years.
SECTION 5: The Clerk of the Commission 1s hereby authorized and dIrected to
give notice of the call and holding of said election by publication, Once each
week for a period of not less than two (2) consecutive weeks immediately preceding
I the date for holding said election, one of such publications to be upon the las t
day upon which Such newspaper 1s issued before the eLection,
in the Bozeman
Daily Chronicle, published at Bozeman, Montana, and by causing notice to be posted
in at least three (3 ) of the most public piaces in each voting precinct in the
Ci ty a t lea's t ten (lV) days prior to the date of said election, which notice so

NOTICE IS HEREBY GI\~N that on Tuesday, the 7th day of November, 1961,
an election will be held in and for the City of Bozeman, Montana, for the purpose

of voting on the questions of issuing the bonds of the City- of Bozeman for the
following purposes and in the fallowing amounts:
(1) for the purpose of erecting, furnisning and
equipping a city haLl building to house city
administrative offlces and police and fire
departments in the amount of $661,928.00.
(2 ) for the purpose of erecting, furnishing and
equipping a ShOP buiLding for the storage I
and maintenance of vehicles and equipment
of the city water and street departments in

SECTION 6: The Clerk of the Commission Shall cause sultab.Le ba~lots to be
prepared for use at said election and shall distribute the same to the judges of
election in the respective precincts, together with the precinct registers supplied
by the County Clerk and other necessary and proper election supplies, which ballots
shall be white in color and of convenient size, printed in accordance with RCM
11-2309, and shall read substantially as fOLlows:

SECTION 7: The Clerk of the Commission is authorized and directed to fur~
nish to the judges of election alL other necessary and convenient facilities and
supplies for said election and the returns thereof. Said
election shall be cond~
ucted and the returns made in the same manner as other city elections. The votes
cast at said bond election sha.ll be counted separately from the votes cast in the
regular city general election, and the returns for said bond election shail be
made separate from the returns for said general election, and returns must be
made separately for each proposition submitted as said election.
