HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 1043 Federal Grant to Acquire Open Space Land 92 RESOLUTION NO. 1043 - A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BOZEMAN, MONTANA, AUTHORIZING THE FILING OF APPLICATION FOR A FEDERAL GRANT TO ACQUIRE OPEN SPACE LAND. I WHEREAS Title VII of the Housing Act of 1961 provides for the making of trants by the Housing and Home Finance Administrator to States and local public bodies to assist them in the acquisition of permanent interests in land for open-space purposes where such acquisition is demmed essential to the proper long-range development and welfare of urban areas in accordance with plans for the allocation of land to such purposes; and WHEREAS, the City of Bozeman desires to acquire a fee s~ple title interest in and to certain land known as the Elks' Country Club, which land, in accordance with the park Cemetery open space land program approved by the City Commission of the City of Bozeman, Montana, is to be held and used for permanent open-space land as a park, recreational and cemetery use; and WHEREAS it 1s estimated that the total consideration to be paid for the acquisition of said fee simple title interest w111 be the sum of Fifty Thousand and nO/lUO Dollars ($50,UOO.UO): NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BOZEMAN, MONTANA, AS FOLLOWS: 1. That an application be made to the Housing and Home Finance Agency for a grant in an amount authorized by Title VII of the Housing Aot of 1961, which amount is presently estimated to be Fifteen Thousand and nO/lOa Dollars ($15,UOO.00), and that the City of Bozeman, Montana, will pay the balance of the consideration for the aoquisition of such interest and the total of all related costs from other funds available to it. 2. Tnat the Mayor of the City of Bozeman is hereby authorized and direoted to execute and to file such application with the Housing and Home Finance Agenoy, to provide additional information and to furnish such doou- ments as may be required by said Agenoy, to execute such contracts as are I required by said Agency, and to act as the authorized correspondent of the City of Bozeman, Montana. 3. That the proposed acquis 1 tion is in accordance with the Park Recreational and Cemetery Plan adopted by the City Commission of the City of Bozeman for the preservation of permanent open-space land, and that, should said grant be made, the City of Bozeman will retain said land for the uses designated in said application and approved by the Housing and Home Finance Agenoy.
