I have been a motel owner and manager for over 25 years. The success of my
business/motel is evidence that I have managed proficiently. This is important with
regards to the plight of our economy in the past year. My business is operating at above
average occupancy levels today.
Having a Undergraduate and Graduate degree is nothing compared to the experience I
have gained from operating a mid size business with anywhere from 10 to 17 employees.
The hospitality industry has the potential of trickling down more business than most any
other business in Bozeman. I am keenly interested in increasing the volume of visitors to
the Gallatin Valley not only to improve my bottom line, but to provide additional
employment, expansion and referrals to other businesses in town. When people spend a
night in Bozeman, they're also purchasing gas, food, gifts and a plethora of other goods
and services. I think the revenue collected via the TBID will provide a fantastic
opportunity to attract many more people to Bozeman and the Gallatin Valley.
I am an active member of Toastmasters and have served in officer appointments in the
local and area levels including Area Governor in 2004. I enjoy leading workshops
targeting customer service and phone skills.
I enjoy getting my line wet on the river with friends, skiing and floating rivers with my
family, reading and have taught the art of Aikido for aver 30 years.
I have been married for almost 20 years and have two children in Bozeman schools.
