Public access to Story Mansion and grounds for events from Halloween to summer movies to concerts allows many of us a rare glimpse into the Bozeman of yesteryear, and a way to understand the lives of those who helped shape Bozeman. Such a reminder of the past is an important guide to our future. We do not learn of our history or what it took (or who it was taken from) to build our town from chain stores. Rather, tangible reminders like the Mansion and the now-gone Lehrkind brewery wall enable us to imagine an earlier world, and to educate ourselves about the legacy of earlier times. Such information can help contemporary residents to consider carefully what remnants of our present world we would hope to carry through to the future. Thank you, Abigail Breuer Bozeman, MT
