HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 1079 Federal Grant for Open Space Land .--.---.--.. :185 RESOLUTION NO. 1079 A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BOZEMAN, I MONTANA, AUTHORIZING THE FILING OF APPLICATIONS FOR A FEDERAL GRANT TO ACQUIRE OPEN SPACE LAND. WHEREAS Title VII of the Housing Act of 1961 provides for the making of grants by the Housing and Home Finance Administrator to States and local public bodies to assist them in the acquisition of permanent interests in land for open-space purposes where such acquisition is deemed essential to the proper long-range development and welfare ofuIhan areas in accordance with plans for the allocation of land to such purposes; and WHEREAS, the City of Bozeman desires to acauire a fee simple title interest in and to a tract of land containing 2L.03 acres being a part of and within certain land known as the Elk's Count1y Club, which tract of land known as the Elk's Country Club, which tract of land, in accordance with the Park open space land program approved by the City Commission of the City of Bozeman, Montana, is to be held and used for permanent open-space land for park and recreational use; and WHEREAS it is estimated that the total consideration to be paid for the acquisition of said free simple title interest in said tract of land will be the sum of Sixteen Thousand Forty Seven and 71/100 dollars ($16.047.71). NOW, THEflliFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BOZEMAN, MONTANA, AS FOLLOWS: l. That an application be made to the Housing and Home Finance Agency for a grant in an amount authorized by Title VII of the Housing Act of 1961, which amount is presently estimated to be Three Thousand - Two Hundred - Ten and no/100 Dollars ($3.210.00), and that the City of Bozeman, Montana, will pay the balance of the consideration for the acquisition of such interest and the total of all related costs from other funds available to it. 2. That the Mayor of the City of Bozeman is hereby authorized and directed to execute I and to file such application with the Housing and Home Finance Agency, to provide additional information and to furnish such documents as may be required by said Agency, to execute such con- tracts as are required by said Agency, and to act as the authorized correspondent of the City of Bozeman, Montana. 3. That the proposed acquisition is in accordance with the Park Recreational Plan adopted by the City Commission of the City of Bozeman for the preservation of permanent open- space land, and that, should said grant be made, the City of Bozeman will retain said land for the uses designated in said application and approved by the Housing and Horne Finance Agency.
