Dear City Council members:
I have been an active member of the Bozeman community for 12 years and I wish to offer my support
of the Non-Discrimination Ordinance and urge you to pass it. As the mother of a openly gay son, I
have felt comforted to know that we have raised him in a community that respects diversity and has
allowed him to feel open and confident about who he is. Unfortunately, as the opposition to this
ordinance has shown, there are plenty of people who don't share these values. I can not tell you how
unsettling it is to see friends and neighbors stand before the City Council and vocalize their desire to
be able to discriminate freely against my son and others based on a religion that we do not subscribe
to. It makes no sense. Please pass the NDO. It is needed this community. The outcry against the
ordinance is evidence enough that we are not yet at a place where these restrictions are not
necessary.
Thank you for your hard work on this issue and your commitment to valuing all members of our
community.
