U x Declaring April as Child Abuse
Awareness and Prevention Month
WHEREAS, Bozeman, MT, has 10,000+ children who have a right to be safe, they count on us to
protect them helping them grow into the healthy, happy, productive people they're meant to be;
WHEREAS, children are key to the state's future success, prosperity, and quality of life and, while
children are our most valuable resource, they are also our most vulnerable;
WHEREAS, exposure to extreme and sustained stress like child abuse and neglect, indifference and
violence, can devastate a child's development;
WHEREAS, providing Bozeman's children the opportunity to thrive, learn, and develop healthy,
trusting family bonds ensuring Bozeman children's well-being; and preventing the far-reaching effects of
child maltreatment;
WHEREAS, investing in, supporting and strengthening Bozeman's families is investing in
community and economic development because flourishing families are the foundation of a thriving society
and consequently, in building strong communities;
WHEREAS, awareness of child abuse prevention programs like home visiting, parent education,
parent support and access to resources and tips, as well as community involvement;
WHEREAS, we must come together as partners so that the voices of our children are heard by all and
we are, as a community extending a helping hand to children and families
WHEREAS, Montana Children's Trust Fund & Prevent Child Abuse Montana both, supports and
encourages children's well-being by sharing resources and supporting services needed to prevent child abuse
and neglect throughout the Treasure State and;
WHEREAS, preventing child abuse means stopping it before it starts.
We urge all Montanans to take an active role in supporting our children and families so that the child
maltreatment and generational family pain of the past are replaced with the happy, healthy, prosperous and
fully -functioning communities of the future.
FURTHER, we commend Prevent Child Abuse Montana and the Montana Children's Trust Fund
on their collaborative and continued work and success in helping strengthen families to eliminate abuse from
their lives. And helping communities treasure our children, here in the Treasure State.
I, Mayor, Jeff Krauss proclaim April as CHILD ABUSE AWARENESS & PREVENTION MONTH;
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, have hereunto set my hand and caused the great seal of the City of Bozeman, Montana, to
