I am the VP of the Baxter Meadows HOA and I am against a new park ,which will draw 1000's, on
the weekend and during the week. I live off Riata and it is difficult to get onto Baxter Lane now,
most of the day and nearly impossible from 8-8:30 and 3:10-3:40, M-F. My vote is NO for this
project or any other school being built or added on, until the City has opened more outlets.
Ferguson needs to be punched all the way through, from Baxter to Oak as well as Kimberwicke to
Cattail (and it needs to be paved and accessible, also). The streets need to be widened from Davis
to N. 19th, a light put up at Davis and Baxter, and the road doubled and made stronger on Flanders
Mill, with better on/off access. Harper Puckett and the Baxter corner is very dangerous, too, as it is
blocked by hedge. The unbuilt lots haven't put in sidewalks, to students were forced to walk into
the road to get to school.
I would like to see the city focus on infrastructure FIRST: IT SEEMS AS IF THE CITY AND THE
SCHOOLS, DO NOT COMPLETE WHAT THEY START!
-All unbuilt lots in Baxter Meadows should provide a sidewalk for all the public to walk safely (kids
were walking on the roads as the unbuilt lots are snow filled and/or muddy)
-Baxter Lane widened from Davis Lane to N. 19th (you cannot walk or ride a bike safely on this road!)
We widened the road in front of Baxter Meadows, the other subdivisions should have to do the
same) It seems as if you are allowing the subdivisions now, back up to the road, so no one will ever
pay for sidewalks, rebuilding or widening for bikes, etc.
-Walking and biking routes along the streets on major arterials (even the west side of Chief Joseph
does not have a sidewalk!)
-More outlets for the residents of Baxter Meadows to get in and out (see above). Those of us that
work, face this chaos every morning.
-Finish the 100 acre park (it has become a huge weed field and dog waste park)!!!!!!!
-A trail for walking, biking, etc. system that would benefit everyone, not just LaCrosse and Soccer
(why don't they utilize school property???)
-A swimming pool could be used by the whole community
As soon as this money is gone, you will be coming back asking the taxpayers for another 20 million.
The residents on the southside of Bozeman were heard and respected about traffic concerns, I
hope we are also.
I am not against kids and love to see all kids active in sports. I have had an active teaching license
since 1989. I just feel we have to do what is best for the WHOLE community and this means the
ones that are paying the taxes. Our taxes are outrageous!!! I do not want more traffic chaos in our
neighborhood until the infrastructure has been addressed.
I am speaking as a resident of Baxter Meadows, I am not speaking as a representative for the other
residents. I just want to fully disclose that the HOA spends a lot of time on the problems I have
stated above.
Sincerely,
