HomeMy WebLinkAboutContinuation of Westbrook Zone Map Amendment_161 REPORT TO: Honorable Mayor & City Commission FROM: Chris Saunders, Policy and Planning Manager Wendy Thomas, Director of Community Development SUBJECT: Continuation of public hearing for Westbrook Zone Map Amendment, located northeast of the intersection of Durston Road and Laurel Parkway, Application Z13296. MEETING DATE: April 7, 2014 AGENDA ITEM TYPE: Action RECOMMENDED MOTION: “I move that the public hearing for the Westbrook Zone Map Amendment be continued to April 14, 2014.” RECOMMENDATION: That the City Commission continue the public hearing for the Westbrook Zone Map Amendment to April 14, 2014. BACKGROUND: The Westbrook Zone Map Amendment (ZMA) was advertised in late February 2014 for consideration by the City Commission on April 7, 2014. Since that advertisement the anticipated time required for other agenda items on the April 7, 2014 has grown considerably. It is important for the public to have a meaningful opportunity to participate in land use decisions. Reviews occurring at very late meetings lessen this opportunity. In order to provide an opportunity for substantive public participation in the review of the proposed ZMA it is recommended to continue the public hearing one week to April 14th. There is no specific period within which a ZMA must be reviewed. UNRESOLVED ISSUES: None determined at this time. ALTERNATIVES: None identified at this time.
