HomeMy WebLinkAboutContinuation of Westbrook Major Subdivision Preliminary Plat_171 REPORT TO: Honorable Mayor & City Commission FROM: Chris Saunders, Policy and Planning Manager Wendy Thomas, Director of Community Development SUBJECT: Continuation of public hearing for Westbrook Major Subdivision Preliminary Plat, located northeast of the intersection of Durston Road and Laurel Parkway, Application P13047. MEETING DATE: April 7, 2014 AGENDA ITEM TYPE: Action RECOMMENDED MOTION: “I move that the public hearing for the Westbrook Major Subdivision be continued to April 14, 2014.” RECOMMENDATION: That the City Commission continue the public hearing for the Westbrook Major Subdivision to April 14, 2014. BACKGROUND: The Westbrook Major Subdivision was advertised in late February 2014 for consideration by the City Commission on April 7, 2014. Since that advertisement the anticipated time required for other agenda items on the April 7, 2014 has grown considerably. It is important for the public to have a meaningful opportunity to participate in land use decisions. Reviews occurring at very late meetings lessen this opportunity. In order to provide an opportunity for substantive public participation in the review of the proposed subdivision it is recommended to continue the public hearing one week to April 14th. Subdivision review has a statutory time frame within which the review must be completed. This time limit for the Westbrook Subdivision ends on May 20th. Therefore, even with the one week continuance the review of this application will comply with the required time limits. UNRESOLVED ISSUES: None determined at this time.
