Dear City Commission,
We are writing in support of funding the Story Mill Community Park.
Both the Story Mill and the Athletic Field projects are outstanding and necessaryprojects that deserve funding. If there is a way to secure some sort of bridge loanor creative funding tool that allows funding of both projects, we encourage theCommission to pursue those possibilities.
However, it sounds like the money just isn't there to fund both, so we throw oursupport behind the Story Mill Community Park as the top priority. The sole reasonbehind this decision should be the fact that this opportunity will not be available tothe community in the future. It is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that theCommission should do everything in its power to make a reality. We think if it slipsby, you as a commission will really regret the missed opportunity.
As an aside, I (Doug) was at Cherry River last Monday night. At 7pm the firstSandhill Crane of the season flew across the interstate and landed at Story Mill. Thisis an amazing little wildlife corridor, that is an incredible asset for the city.
In conclusion, we respectfully request the City Commission work to do everything inits power to secure the funding for the Story Mill Community Park, and in doing sosecure the legacy of this land for the Bozeman community.
