City Commission
City of Bozeman
Honorable Mayor and City Commission:
I urge you to vote YES for the Story Mill Community Park Proposal Application for Trails,
Open Space and Parks Committee (TOPS) Bond Funding.
This project as envisioned and designed presents an opportunity to preserve, enhance and
restore a property that has unique ecological value within the City of Bozeman and, in many
respects, across the entire Gallatin Valley. Located at the confluence of Bozeman Creek and
the East Gallatin River, the property offers unmatched potential for developing a city park
that can highlight natural ecological processes and function, provide a semi-urban refuge for
wildlife as well as people, and promote a wealth of educational opportunities to relate how
we as humans interact with our natural surroundings.
There are simply too many good components of this project – all within easy access to the
community – to pass-up an opportunity like this. The investment the City can make in this
property and this project by voting YES would certainly stand up to the City’s motto of, “The
Most Livable Place.”
Thank you for your consideration and your service.
Michael Rotar, PE
