HomeMy WebLinkAboutStory Mill Community Park Public Comment from Eva Patten 3-17-14From:Eva Patten To:Agenda Subject:Story Mill Park Date:Sunday, March 16, 2014 3:40:50 PM I hope to be at the Commission meeting when the proposal for the Story Mill Park is heard, but I so stongly endorse this project as an incredible opportunity for the City I'm sending a few comments. just in case I can't be there. I was part of the community charrette a few years ago as the community worked with the Trust for Public Land to develop ideas for the Park and I recently attended Maddy Pope's presentation to Wonderlust's Friday Forum at the Bozeman Public Library. Both the Planning Charrette and the Forum were super well attended. Two things from the Friday Forum in particular struck me:1. The enthusiasm for the project and the great questions and endorsements people in the audience gave and2. The large number of organizations, agencies, academics, businesses that are actively engaged in some phase of the early development or restoration. This is truly a team/community building project. For me personally the opportunity to restore a stream and riparian system that have seen years of neglect is a dream come true... And right in the heart of our community where it will be enjoyed by school kids, bird watchers, nature lovers, people looking for a spot of beauty and refreshment during lunch breaks, while also serving as a home for many wild critters and birds. Another dream I see coming true is the new trail system the planners foresee. After having spent many years of involvement with GVLT it is just an amazing opportunity! There's something for everyone with recreational facilities, with local gardening potential for growing food and providing educational programs. On and on. You can tell I'm excited about the Story Mill Project and hope you share this enthusiasm. Thanks,Eva Patten Eva Patten 8945 Trooper Trail Bozeman, MT 59715 (406) 582-0486
