One of the reasons we moved to Bozeman is that it is an amazing place to live for many reasons, and I hope that as you consider funding the sports park that you do so at a level that reflects this quality. I have three children, all involved in youth sports. Having attended numerous soccer tournaments throughout the state one thing is glaringly apparent; Bozeman is significantly behind other cities in our state in providing for multi- use playing fields and sporting complexes. This pertains to soccer, lacrosse, football, softball and baseball. For example, Bozeman's growth over the past 15 years has seen a 10x growth in the number of players in soccer and lacrosse. The Bronken complex, which was donated to service 300 players, is no longer adequate to facilitate Bozeman's burgeoning youth soccer and lacrosse culture. In addition, there is no complex for girls youth softball and the youth baseball/football facility (Christie Fields) is laughable. Developing a sports park that meets current needs and recognizes the continued and inevitable growth of Bozeman and youth sports would go a long way in recognizing the importance of youth sports for our children's development. The development a high quality sports park capable of hosting large tournaments is imperative if Bozeman is to compete with other cities for the countless tourism-related dollars associated with these types of tournaments. Thank you for considering this matter and for your commitment to Bozeman's Parks and Trails. I am asking that you cast your support to fund a high quality sports park that will reflect a commitment to our youth. Sincerely, Terri Losty
