Dear TOP committee and Bozeman City Commission,
As a mother of 4, I urge you to strongly consider the opportunity before you. Bozeman
is an amazing place to live, recreate, and raise a family. It has changed in the last 20
years and according to all of the statistics will continue to change and grow in the next
20. The community has always had a good vision of what it takes to make this a
desirable place to live, and they spoke by approving the parks and trails bond. You now
have the opportunity to leave a lasting legacy to the future of Bozeman, and the many
people that will call this place home.
My husband and I find ourselves going in 4 different directions to different parks and
gyms shuttling kids to their different activities. I have had to submit an application at
midnight on the first of August to make sure my kids basketball and soccer teams had a
gym to practice in during the dead of winter. Once developed, this sports park could
alleviate some of the issues with finding that type of space, and also allow different age
groups of kids to be centrally located at one place. This Park could meet the needs of
today’s kids, and also meet the needs of the future growth of Bozeman.
We also find ourselves traveling to tournaments in many different towns around the
state and country. These events bring many teams and families to their host
communities spending money on food, lodging and shopping. This sports park has the
ability to pay the community and its businesses back many times over.
Thank you for your consideration on this Sports Park. I encourage you to cast your
support to fund at the greatest level possible a high quality sports park that will reflect
a commitment to our youth that will be a source of pride for our city for many years to
come.
Sincerely,
Jaclyn Lewis
