To the Commission and Committee,
Please vote to support the new sports park complex for Bozeman.
A new sports park will bolster existing athletic programs by providing better facilitiesin which to play. I lived in Jackson Hole when they completed their new turf fields.Enrollment in their soccer program increased by 40% over the next two years as aresult. We need more and better facilities now as certainly for the future growth ofBozeman.
Building the park is a decision about spending money. But there is are two ways inwhich not having a good sports complex costs the city money. The hundreds offamilies leave town each weekend because we host so few sporting events here.They take their money and spend it all over the state, paying for the sportscomplexes in places like Billings, Butte, Great Falls and Helena. They seldom comeshere. So we lose potential revenue from out own citizens.
And second, we don't host bigger tournaments that attract people from all over theregion to come and spend their money in Bozeman which would go a long waytoward helping to pay for OUR facility.
And lastly, we want to keep our youth interested in playing sports and having ahealthy lifestyle as long as possible. Quality facilities will help tomak ehtat happen.
