Dear TOP Committee:
I am a soccer mom and a business owner in Bozeman. Our family spends close to
$1000/weekend when we travel to another town for soccer.
These trips include: Great Falls, Missoula, Helena, and Billings. We get hotel rooms, go out
to dinner, see sites, and shop.
A Bozeman sports park with associated soccer tournaments would be a valuable economic
driver for our community. Currently we cannot bid for tournaments given the scarcity of
fields. My daughter plays soccer 5-6 days a week on Bozeman fields, but for the big
weekend events, we spend our money in other communities with the facilities for match
play and tournaments.
If economic reasons alone are not enough, consider there are over 1,500 kids in Blitzz alone
and an investment in a modern facility is critical if we are to promote healthy lifestyles and
maintain the quality of life benefits that athletic fields provide our community. Investing now
in parks, trails and athletic fields makes sense. Land prices have bottomed out and we need
to act now to preserve our quality of life for future generations.
