HomeMy WebLinkAboutSouth University Public Comment from Bill Guza 2-14From:Bill Guza To:Agenda Subject:Stadium View Development Date:Monday, February 03, 2014 4:44:46 PM As a building owner in the Stadium Center Association complex, and as a representative of the Osprey Building Condominium Owners Association, I am opposed to the proposed Stadium View Development. The potential of hundreds and potentially thousands of college students coming and going and living the typical college lifestyle to the south of the Stadium Center would be disruptive to the current professional setting provide by the Stadium Center complex. The traffic on 11th Street south of Kagy Boulevard is the only entrance to and from the proposed development that would be utilized by students coming and going to campus. Kagy Boulevard and all of 11th Street are not structured to facilitate the potential traffic flow that would result from such a development. With the campus field house and Bobcat football stadium, and related parking lots for both venues located along Kagy and 11th Street, the potential for traffic bottlenecks is significant. The owners of the Stadium Center built and developed their properties with the reasonable understanding that any future surrounding development to the south of Stadium Center Complex would be residential and in keeping with the idea of family neighborhoods. The proposed development will devalue the properties within the Stadium Center. A disjointed development segregated from the main campus of MSU does not make sense from a transportation point of view or for the convenience for potential students. Student housing should be addressed by MSU and not by out of state developers. The southern access to the Bozeman Deaconess Hospital is facilitated via traffic flow west along Kagy Boulevard from South 19th and 11th. All emergency access will be impeded by increased traffic flows along Kagy and 11th if the Stadium View Development or similar developments are allowed to proceed. The Stadium View Development should not be approved. The zoning of the property south of the Stadium Center should be returned to single family homes. Bill Guza, Building owner, Stadium Center
