MEETING DATE: January 27, 2014 AGENDA TYPE: Action RECOMMENDED MOTION: I move to reappoint Katherine Ball, Lynn Flansaas and
Russ Tuckerman and appoint new applicant Ann Bertagnolli to the Cemetery Advisory Board.
BACKGROUND: We currently have one vacancy on the Cemetery Board with three terms that expired on December 31, 2013. All three members with expiring terms have reapplied and we
have one new applicant.
According to Bozeman Municipal Code Section 2.05.660 – Composition.
There is created a cemetery board consisting of seven members to be appointed by the City Commission for three year staggered terms. Should a vacancy occur on the board, the city
commission shall appoint a new member to complete the term of appointment so vacated. A
majority of the members shall be residents of the City, and whenever practicable one member
shall be a representative of an active recognized veteran’s group.
Section 2.05.670. – Organization. The cemetery board shall serve as an advisory board to both the city commission and city
administration and, as such, shall be charged with making such investigation and
recommendations as requested or deemed necessary for the operation of the cemetery and as
required in this division.
There are three expired terms and one ongoing vacancy.

If so, where?: Bozeman Please explain your relevant qualifications, interests and experiences.: I am currently on the
Cemetery Advisory Board. I have been on the County/City zoning and planning board. I have
been a Bozeman citizen since 1978 and I have seen many changes to my community both
positive and negative. I would like to help complete a new master plan for the cemetery including the moving and planting of trees from the old nursery. There are a few projects that
need to be completed and I would like to be a part of that. I feel that my long term residency and
time on the board gives me a history that may be important in understanding cemetery issues. I
want to help the city to continue to provide its citizens with a quality cemetery that is accessible
to all of us.

I was appointed to the cemetery board this last January, 2013 and my term is expiring 12-31-13. I feel
the knowledge that I have gained as a board member will be very helpful in being up to date on the
issues of the cemetery. I enjoy being a part of keeping the cemetery beautiful for years to come.

the Cemetery Board since about 2000. Helped establish current Cemetery 20 year plan, including
being a founding Board member of the Friends of Sunset Hills Veterans Memorial, Founded and
fund raised Tuckerman Park - 2001. Trails Committee and volunteer with Gallatin Valley Land Trust and Board Member from 1996-2002 (approx). Committed to Bozeman's open spaces and
community needs.

County Planning Department and County Commission on development issues (several years
ago) and found this work extremely interesting and important. I have a strong service ethic and a commitment to my community and highly appreciate all those who have held these volunteer positions and the time they have given to serve others. I have a strong interest in land use and
major issues facing the Bozeman community and surrounding areas and would enjoy being of
help where possible.
