Jamie Saitta, Recreation Manager
December 2013
We welcomed a new part-time recreation leader this month. His name is Josh Smith and he will be helping us
implement our many youth and adult programs throughout the year. Josh volunteered as a skateboard instructor with our department during the summer and we are very excited to have him
on our team!
We are gearing up for some really exciting (some old and some new) winter programs! The Recreation Division staff has put together some very creative activity plans
for the following programs and events. Pre-registration is required and most commonly happens via our website.
Active Aging Programs
PIckleball Open Play Sessions, Balance and Beyond,
Heart and Sole, and Curling
Adult Programs
Parent’s Night Out, Avalanche Awareness Classes, Ice Skating, and Curling
Youth Programs
Learn to Skate Classes, Fun on Ice, and Winter
Schools Out Camps
Infant/Preschool Programs
Drop-In and PLAY, Little Explorers Tour of Crystal Clear Aquariums, Breakfast with Santa Preschool Party, Letters and Phone Calls from Santa,
Treasure Seekers, and Kinder Basketball
We will be bringing curling to Bozeman in January and couldn’t be more excited! We started thinking about curling a year ago and have had a
lot of people (of all ages) show interest. We felt the timing was perfect for launching curling, with the Winter Olympics just around the corner! We will kick off the season with a
learn to curl clinic at the Southside Ice Rink. We will also offer two, four-week league options (for ages 21 and older) following the clinic. Information about curling, and all other
programs, can be found on our website www.bozeman.net/reacation or by calling 582-2290.
The recreation staff will be offering kids events during the Christmas Stroll! They will
also be taking this opportunity to share information about all of the programs and events the Parks and Recreation Department has coming up. If you are strolling this year, be sure
to stop by and see us on South Black Ave.
We are excited to have some new Parks and Recreation Department “gear” in stock and on sale at the Beall Park Recreation Center. We often
get asked by program participants or the general public about where they can get a Parks and Recreation Department hat or sticker, it is great to now have an answer for them! We have
water bottles, hats, stickers and can koozies for sale, just in time for the holidays. We think any one of these items would be make great stocking stuffers!
All of us in the Recreation
Division wish you and your family a happy holiday season!
