September 2013
We have been very busy since the summer ended. At Bogert we are currently putting together a contract to have the pool sand blasted and re-painted
this fall. Fall is the best time to do this, as we have a better chance of dry weather and the concrete has been warmed to a proper temperature to have it painted. We are also currently
having the engineering for new drains in the deep end reviewed by the state. The drains need to be replaced to make them compliant with the federal Pool and Spa Safety Act. We are also
obtaining quotes for engineering for the replacement of the 1949 boiler at Bogert. We plan to have the boiler work completed over the winter.
At the Swim Center we have
been putting together our winter schedule. This takes a while for us to do, as we get schedules from the school district, swim teams, and then try to find times to place swim lessons.
We accomplished draining, cleaning, refilling and heating the pool in one week this year. This was possible because we did not have any large projects that needed to be completed. Looking
at the next 5 years, this will not be possible again. We have many large projects in the CIP over the next 5 years to keep the Swim Center up, and to prevent it turning into a Bogert
situation.
Next week we will be hosting presentation from the top three architectural companies for the design of the new aquatic facility. I am happy to say that all
of them have a high level of local talent, keeping the resources in Bozeman as much as we can.
