SUBJECT: Appointment to the Beautification Advisory Board

RECOMMENDED MOTION: I move to appoint Ellen Kuntz to the Beautification Advisory Board.
BACKGROUND: The Beautification Advisory Board currently has two ongoing vacancies and
one new applicant.
The Beautification Advisory Board was created under Ordinance No. 1360, Chapter 2.84, Bozeman Municipal Code. The board consists of up to nine members, to be appointed to
staggered three-year terms. Persons must be of legal age. A majority of the members must be
residents of the city; and non-resident members shall “have some interest in the city by virtue of
working in the city, owning property in the city, or entering the city frequently for any lawful purpose.”
The board is to identify, investigate, and recommend community beautification projects and
programs; investigate and pursue possible funding sources for beautification projects, in
coordination with City staff; and advise the Commission concerning beautification of City-owned properties and facilities.
The Beautification Advisory Board currently has two vacancies and one new applicant.

Please explain your relevant qualifications, interests and experiences.: Currently I am a Senator on the Montana State University ASMSU Senate. I am also involved in Chi Alpha Kappa, a woman's social club, where I serve as the Standards Officer. I have always had an interest in
government. In 2011 I participated in Montana's Girl's State, and I won the position of
Superintendent of Public Instruction. I am a strong leader among my peers, and I am very
passionate and motivated. I believe serving on the Beautification Advisory Board would provide me with experience that will be unmatched as I peruse a career in politics in the future.
