HomeMy WebLinkAbout11-13 Galavan / Streamline Advisory Board Director's Report / Director’s Report November 26, 2013 STREAMLINE: This could be a first but for the time being every bus is up and running. I hope that is still true when the board meets on Tuesday. We are still working with Harlow’s in Whitehall to solve the payment problem for the side of 214 where it was damaged by the tire. I have been notified by Adam Kraft at MDT that we can apply for a second transit style bus. The application is due on January 15 with a match of 80/20. If we can come up with the match, it is a great opportunity to upgrade our fleet. One of the new requirements from MDT is to review our Title VI Plan and submit it to the state. It is a fairly standard document that states we will not discriminate on the basis of race, color, or national origin. This will need to be an action item for the agenda. I have attached a copy for you to look over before the meeting. We are again serving the Warming Center in the mornings and evenings. We started Friday the 15th with basically the same schedule that we had last year. This adds about an hour a day to Karst’s contract but is well worth the extra money. I have signed contracts from both Bridger Bowl and Bohart Ranch to provide bus service from the first of December until the first weekend of April. The total cost of the contracts is $13,747.50 The Clean Slate Group has been selected to do the wraps for the original buses that are still on the road. The full cost for the project was proposed as $12,816.80 for the five buses. The delegation from Moscow, Idaho is going to wait until spring to come for a visit. I will keep in touch with them to answer any questions they have about our service. Our advertising guru has been approached by a poker room that would like to advertise on our Streamline buses. Gambling is not addressed in our official policy so I wanted to bring it to the board’s attention before I gave the yea or nay. My personal feeling is nay but I would like the board to voice its opinion. I just got word from Adam Kraft that our FY allocation amount is $1,012,188.85 with a contingency fund amount of $251,345.64. Our budget application will combine the two figures. Budget reimbursement rates have not changed. GALAVAN: Galavan added 16 new customers in October and gave a total of 1,702 rides in 23 days of service. Larry King, our new part-time driver, is working out well and Joe, who was on loan from Karst, did a great job helping out. Adam Spracklen is our new full time driver. He is fairly new to Bozeman but interviewed very well and is excited to be working for the HRDC and Galavan.
