BOX 640 PHONE (406) 586-3321 BOZEMAN, MONTANA 59715-0640 Smoke-free Building Policy 1'n recognition of the increased health hazards of passive smoke on the non-smoker, it is the declared policy of the City of Bozeman Lo assure that all of its buildings are smoke-free. To effect this policy, the following rules are established: I. In b~lildings maintained by the City, smoking is prohibited in the following areas: offices, corridors, lobbies, stairways, conference rooms, elevators, rest rooms, break rooms, hazardous areas, ar~d any area not specifically identified as a "Designated Smoking Area". II. Any buildings maintained by the City that are entirely smoke-free as of January 15, 1993 shall remain entirely smoke-free. III. In other buildings maintained by the City, the person in charge of the work area may arrange smoking areas by establishing a "Designated Smoking Area". IV. Any "Designated Smoking Area" shall be selected based on architectural design and functional purpose suitable for protecting non-smokers from passive smoke. V. The person in charge of the work area may designate a corridor, lobby, or rest room as a "Designated Smoking Area" when it is not possible to designate another smoking area. VI. The person in charge of the building shall place signs near each entrance to the building stating that the building is smona-free and stating where Designated Smoking Areas (if any) are located. VII. Initial plans for the implementation of this policy shall be presented to the City Manager for approval. Any subsequent modification of an approved plan must also be submitted for the City Manager's approval. VIII.
