Minutes September 26, 2013
Present: Mark Hufstatler, Jesse Nunn, Ryan Olsen, Lora Dalton, Courtney Kramer, Wendy Thomas, Pat Jacobs
Meeting
convened shortly after 6:30 pm.
Wendy introduced the new City planner, Pat Jacobs. Pat is an architect with a very strong preservation background. She is looking forward to working
with us, and being a resource for us.
Discussion of CLG review, which will also be used for our long-range planning process:
Mark: Kate Hampton (SHPO) asked for an evaluation of
our program and other input from us. We need to have that discussion now.
The bulk of the meeting concerned our discussion of answering the questions in the evaluation form. This is
documented in an attachment which is an appendix to these minutes.
Ryan Olsen had to leave at this point, leaving us without a quorum, but no action items are scheduled.
Chair’s report:
Tax Abatement discussion: Wendy would like to keep Tax Abatement program but have it approved by state. Pete Brown, state Historic Preservation Officer, would like to meet with us.
Lora explained about the re-written ordinance we worked on, and will get a copy of our revisions (draft ordinance) to Wendy.
Wendy has informed Commission we need until spring to develop
Awards program.
Ethics Training in October; maybe Pete can come in November. Aimee will come to our October meeting to do training.
We must address quorum issues.
November meeting
tentatively set for the 21st.
Staff report: Courtney reported on MSU’s progress with historic district and other preservation efforts.
