HomeMy WebLinkAboutNorth Seventh Avenue Lighting Design and Construction Amendment 2, Prof. Services Agreement Commission Memorandum REPORT TO: Honorable Mayor and City Commission FROM: Dustin Johnson, Project Engineer Rick Hixson, City Engineer SUBJECT: Amendment No. 2 to Professional Services Agreement for North 7th Ave. Lighting Design and Construction MEETING DATE: November 4, 2013 AGENDA ITEM TYPE: Consent RECOMMENDATION: Approve and authorize City Manager to sign Amendment No. 2 to the Professional Services Agreement. BACKGROUND: On July 11, 2010 the Bozeman City Commission approved a professional services agreement with Morrison Maierle for the North 7th Avenue Lighting Design and Construction. This contract was for $115,861.86 and included provisions for preliminary design, final design, picture renderings of the proposed lights within the corridor, bidding, and construction management services for the project. The installation of the new lights for phase one is coming to a close and the North Seventh Urban Renewal Board (NSURB) would like to start focusing on the installation of future phases of lights. The challenge moving ahead are the gaps in right of way and easements in order to provide room to install new lighting. The intent of this professional services amendment is to determine the extents of the North 7th right of way and easements from West Juniper (the end of the first phase lighting project) and West Main Street. This information will be critical for the NSURB to evaluate, as they reach out to property owners to obtain easements for the new lights. All together the additional costs will be $24,338.56 and will include research of record surveys and deeds at the clerk and recorders office, an on site boundary survey, and the preparation of a final report with exhibits outlining the findings. At their October 3rd monthly meeting NSURB recommended approval of the proposed amendments to this professional services agreement. Engineering staff has reviewed the amendment and found it to be acceptable. 56 FISCAL EFFECTS: The NSURB FY2014 Work Plan and Budget set aside $100,000 for engineering services. ALTERNATIVES: As suggested by the City Commission. Attachments: Amendment No. 2 to Professional Services Agreement Report compiled on: 10/22/2013 57 58 59 60 61 62 63 64
