SUBJECT: 2013 Water Renovations Project – Change Order No. 1.

RECOMMENDATION: Motion and vote to authorize the City Manager’s signature on the 2013
Water Renovations Project – Change Order No. 1.
BACKGROUND: Attached is a copy of change order number 1 for the above referenced project. The City’s Information Technology (IT) Department wants to get a fiber optic
connection between Fire Station 1 and City Hall. It will establish hard connectivity between the
two facilities. It will further strengthen our disaster recovery opportunities and will become part
of a larger site plan to connect the new police station, EOC, and city shop complex if that comes to fruition. Since the intersection of Rouse and Mendenhall will be torn up with the installation of the water main, we will have that same contractor install a conduit from the station to the
northwest corner of the intersection at the same time to save costs. The IT Department will then
hire a separate contractor to install the line from that point to City Hall. Overall this change will
increase the contract price by $10,500.00 and the contract time by 5 days. The final recommended change in cost and time for these items is reasonable and commensurate with the work involved.
UNRESOLVED ISSUES: None
ALTERNATIVES: As suggested by the City Commission.
FISCAL EFFECTS: Overall this change order increases the contract amount by $10,500.00 from $995,236.00 to $1,005,736.00. The conduit installation will be paid for out of the IT
Construction FY 14 fund.

COMMISSION RESOLUTION NO. 4467
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BOZEMAN,
MONTANA, APPROVING ALTERATION/MODIFICATION OF CONTRACT
WITH OMDAHL EXCAVATION AND UTILITIES, INC., MANHATTAN,
MONTANA.
WHEREAS, the City Commission did, on the 22nd
WHEREAS, Section 7-5-4308, Montana Code Annotated, provides that any such alterations or
modifications of the specifications and/or plans of the contract be made by resolution; and

the City of Bozeman 2013 Water Renovations project, to Omdahl Excavation and Utilities, Inc., Manhattan,
Montana; and
WHEREAS, it has become necessary in the prosecution of the work to make alterations or
modifications to the specifications and/or plans of the contract.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Commission of the City of Bozeman,
Montana, that the proposed modifications and/or alterations to the contract between the City of Bozeman, a
municipal corporation, and Omdahl Excavation and Utilities, Inc., as contained in Change Order No. 1,
attached hereto, be and the same are hereby approved; and the City Manager is hereby authorized and directed
to execute the contract change order for and on behalf of the City; and the City Clerk is authorized and
directed to attest such signature.
