HomeMy WebLinkAboutReappointments to the Community Alcohol Coalition_8 Commission Memorandum REPORT TO: Honorable Mayor and City Commission FROM: Aimee Brunckhorst, Public Engagement Coordinator Stacy Ulmen, City Clerk CMC SUBJECT: Reappointments to the Community Alcohol Coalition MEETING DATE: July 8, 2013 MEETING TYPE: Action RECOMMENDED MOTION: I move to reappoint Jenny Haubenreiser and Katie Noland to the Community Alcohol Coalition. BACKGROUND: This Coalition has four terms which expired June 30th and seven ongoing vacancies. The vacancies include two hospitality industry representatives, a High School student and School District representative, a representative of the medical community one from law enforcement and an interested citizen. The two terms expired terms for which members are not reapplying, include an MSU faculty member and an interested citizen. The Community Alcohol Coalition was created under Commission Resolution No. 3611, based on a recommendation from the Bozeman Alcohol Policy Advisory Council. The Coalition consists of up to 15 members to be appointed by the City Commission. A majority of the members shall be residents of the city. Members shall be appointed so that the membership shall be as follows: 3 Hospitality Industry Representatives, 2 Members of Law Enforcement, one from the Bozeman Police Department and the other from the Sheriff's Office, Montana Highway Patrol, or Montana State University, 2 Prevention Specialists, 1 MSU Student, 1 MSU Faculty or Staff Member, 1 Bozeman High School Student, 1 Bozeman School District Representative, 1 Medical Community Representative, 1 Non-Hospitality Local Business Representative, 1 Neighborhood Association Representative, and 1 Interested Citizen (who may or may not qualify in another capacity). Except for students who serve a 1-year renewable term, members shall serve 3-year staggered terms unless otherwise specifically noted, with terms to expire on June 30. 71 The Community Alcohol Coalition currently has seven ongoing vacancies, four expired terms and two reapplying applicants. I have helped twice with the Bozeman P.D. alcohol compliance checks. Being a college student,I feel my insight can add in to discussions about the issues brought up in the monthly CAC meetings.
