HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 1862 Election for General Obligation Bonds 22:1 COMMISSION RESOLUTION NO. 1862 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BOZEMAN, MONTANA, SUB- MITTING TO THE QUALIFIED ELECTORS OF THE CITY OF BOZEMAN AT AN ELECTION ON APRIL 5, 1977, THE QUESTION OF ISSUING GENERAL OBLIGATION BONDS IN AN AMOUNT OF NOT TO EXCEED $400,000.00 FOR THE PURPOSE OF BUILDING AND EQUIP- PING A NEW SENIOR CITIZEN CEM~ER FOR BOZEMAN INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, MEETING, CRAFTS AND GAME ROOMS; DANCE AREAS; HEALTH FACILITIES AND I FOOD SERVICE AND PROVIDING THAT THE NUMBER OF YEARS THROUGH WHICH THE BONDS ARE TO BE PAID SHALL BE TEN (10) YEARS. WHEREAS, on the 9th day of February, 1977, there was presented to the City Commission of the City of Bozeman, Montana, a petition aSking that an election to be held and the question of issuing general obligation bonds in an amount not to exceed $400,000.00 to provide funds for the construction and furnishing of a new senior citizen social center in Bozeman, Montana; and, WHEREAS, the City Clerk of the City of Bozeman has carefully examined said petition and the county records show the qualification of the petitioners and has by her certificate under her official signature determined that the total number of persons who are registered electo~s in the City of Bozeman are 9,374 and that 2,158 persons whose names are subscribed to said petition are in possession of all of the qualifications of signatures of said petition and the qualified signers of sa~d petition constitute more than 20% of the registered electors of the City of Bozeman. Section 1 NOW, THEREFORE , the City Commission does hereby call and direct to be held in the City of Bozeman on Tuesday, the 5th day of April, 1977, in various precincts and I that the polling places as set forth in the notice of election hereinafter contained between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. for the purpose of voting on the question of issuing general obligation bonds of the City of Bozeman to build and equip a new senior citizen center for the purpose, including, but not limited to meeting, crafts and game rooms; dance area; health facilities and food service. Said election shall be held coincidentally with the general election on said day and the judges and clerks of said general election shall act as the judges and clerks of said bond election. Section 2 The purpose for which said election is called is to submit to the' qualified electors in the City of Bozeman the question of whether general obligation bonds of the City of Bozeman, Montana, in a sum not to exceed $400,000.00 payable over a period of ten (10 ) years. Section 3 At said general election all, but only, the duly registered and qualified I electors of the City of Bozeman shall be entitled to vote. The Clerk of the City .. Commission is hereby authorized and directed to give notice forthwith, to the County Clerk of the call of said election. The County Clerk shall, after giving due notice of closing of the registration books, prepare printed lists of the duly qualified and registered voters entitled to vote at said election, and shall prepare precinct , registers for such election for each precinct of the city in the form and manner required by law. COMMISSION RESOLUTION NO. 1862 --.- -- 224 Section 4 The Clerk of the City Commission is hereby authorized and directed to give notice of the call and holding of said election by publication, once each week for a period of not less than two (2) consecutive weeks immediately preceding the date for holding said election, one of such pUblications to be upon the last day upon which such newspaper is issued before the election, in the Bozeman Daily Chronicle, I published at Bozeman, Montana, and by causing notice to be posted in at least three (3) of the most pUblic places in each voting precinct in the city at least ten (10) days prior to the date of said election, which notice is so published and posted shall read substantially as follows: NOTICE OF ELECTION CITY OF BOZEMAN, MONTANA NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that on Tuesday, the 5th day of April, 1977, an election will be held in and for the city of Bozeman, Montana, for the purpose of voting on the question of issuing the bonds of the city of Bozeman for the following purposes and in the following amounts: Proposition THAT THE CITY OF BOZEMAN, MONTANA, ISSUE ITS GENERAL OBLIGATION BONDS IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $400,000 TO BE PAYABLE DURING A PERIOD OF TEN (10) YEARS FROM THE DATE OF THE ISSUANCE, THE PROCEEDS OF SUCH BONDS TO BE USED TO BU~LD AND EQUIP A NEW SENIOR CITIZEN CENTER FOR PURPOSE, BUT NOT BEING LIMITED TO MEETING, CRAFTS, AND GAME ROOMS, DANCE AREAS, HEALTH FACILITIES AND FOOD SERVICE. Section 5 I The Clerk of the City Commission shall cause suitable ballots to be prepared for use at said election and shall distribute the same to the judges of election in the respective precincts, together with the precinct registers supplied by the County Clerk and other necessary and proper election supplies, which ballots shall be white in color and of convenient size, printed in accordance with R.C.M., 11-2309, and shall read substantially as follows: OFFICIAL BALLOT CITY OF BOZEMAN, MONTANA APRIL 5, 1977 (INSTRUCTIONS TO VOTERS: Mark a cross (x) in the square opposite the word "FOR" if you wish to vote in favor of the proposition, or in the square opposite the work "AGAINST" if you wish to vote against the proposition.) proposition FOR THE CITY OF BOZEMAN, MONTANA, ISSUING AND SELLING ITS GENERAL OBLIGA- TION BONDS IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED FOUR HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLLARS ($400~000) TO BE PAYABLE DURING A PERIOD OF TEN (10) YEARS FROM THE DATE OF THEIR ISSUANCE, THE PROCEEDS OF SUCH BONDS TO BE USED TO BUILD AND EQUIP A NEW SENIOR CENTER FOR BOZEMAN INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, MEETING, CRAFTS AND GAME ROOMS; DANCE AREA; HEALTH FACILITIES AND FOOD SERVICE. AGAINST THE CITY OF BOZEMAN, MONTANA, ISSUING AND SELLING ITS GENERAL I OBLIGATION BONDS IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED FOUR HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLLARS ($400,000) TO BE PAYABLE DURING A PERIOD OF TEN (10) YEARS FROM THE DATE OF THEIR ISSUANCE, THE PROCEEDS OF SUCH BONDS TO BE USED TO BUILD AND EQUIP A NEW SENIOR CENTER FOR BOZEMAN, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, MEETING, CRAFTS, AND GAME ROOMS: DANCE AREA: HEALTH FACILITIES AND FOOD SERVICE.
