COMMISSION RESOLUTION NO. 1886
A RESOLUTION ASSURING THE UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF HOUSING AND URBAN
DEVELOPMENT THAT THE CITY OF BOZEMAN, MONTANA, APPROVES ALLOCATION OF
FUNDS TO ENCOURAGE CONSTRUCTION AND REHABILITATION OF HOUSING LOCATED
WITHIN THE POLITICAL JURISDICTION FOR HOUSEHOLDS IN NEED OF HOUSING
ASSISTANCE, VESTING THE CITY MANAGER WITH THE RESPONSIBILITIES OF COOR-
DINATING THE ACTIONS OF PRIVATE HOUSING DEVELOPERS AND THE U.S. DEPART-
MENT OF HOUSING AND URBAN DEVELOPMENT TO ASSURE THAT SUCH DEVELOPMENT I
OR REHABILITATION IS IN THE INTEREST, SAFETY AND GENERAL WLEFARE OF THE
COMMUNITY.
WHEREAS, it has been determined that certain individuals of Bozeman, Montana,
are in need of and qualify for housing assistance; and
WHEREAS, relief is available for these individuals from the U.S. Department
of Housing and Urban Development, under Title II of the Housing and Community
Development Act of 1974, which provides for a housing assistance payment plan
referred to as the Section 8 Housing Assistance program; and
WHEREAS, the Section 8 Housing Assistance Program will be implemented in
Bozeman, Montana, by legal contract between private housing developers and the U.S.
Department of Housing and Urban Development; and
WHEREAS, the City of Bozeman, Montana, is in no way obligated or required to
provide financial or administrative assistance for implementation of the Section 8
program; and
WHEREAS, the City of Bozeman, Montana, believes that provision of rent subsidy
assisted housing construction and rehabilitation for those in need is in the best
interest of the community; I
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BOZEMAN:
Assures the U.s. Depattment of Housing and Urban Development that the construc-
tion and rehabilitation of rent subsidy assisted housing is in the interest of the
general welfare of the community of Bozeman, Montana, and endorses implementation
of such programs.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Commission and approved by the Mayor this 29th
day of June 1977.
