COMMISSION RESOLUTION NO.
1904
A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BOZEMAN, MONTANA, IN MEMORIAN TO
JOHN W. (BRICK) BREEDEN AND TO EXTEND CONDOLENCES AND SYMPATHY TO THE BEREAVED
WIDOW, FAMILY AND FRIENDS OF JOHN W. (BRICK) BREEDEN.
WHEREAS, John W. (Brick) Breeden, former member of the City Park Recreation Board of the
City of Bozeman, Montana, died on Saturday, August 13, 1977, and
WHEREAS, Mr. Breeden has maintained permanent residence in Bozeman since 1920 and has been
I an outstanding citizen of the community.
WHEREAS, Mr. Breeden served the City of Bozeman as a member of the Park Recreation Board for
25 years and as a member of the Board of School Trustees from 1945 until 1962, as well as chairman
for many years.
WHEREAS, Mr. Breeden was elected State Senator from District 11, Gallatin and Park Counties,
and served from 1972 to 1974.
WHEREAS, Mr. Breeden served the State and City well and performed his duties in an exemplary
manner.
WHEREAS, Mr. Breeden attained All-American status as a member of the National Champion
Golden Bobcat basketball team and coached basketball at Montana State University for 17 years.
WHEREAS, he had many fraternal affiliations demonstrated by his participation in numerous
activities. He was a member of Phi Delta Kappa honorary education fraternity, Bozeman Masonic
Lodge 18, AF&AM, St. John's Commandery of Knight Templer, and Algeria Shrine in Helena.
WHEREAS, the City Family was saddened and grieved to hear of the passing of John W. (Brick)
Breeden;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BOZEMAN herewith extends its
most sincere condolences to Ruth Breeden and the family and friends of her departed husband in
this their hour of bereavement, and
FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Clerk is herewith instructed to convey this measure to Mrs. Breeden
and to officially record this resolution on the minutes of the regular meeting of the City Commission
on the 24th day of August 1977.
I PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Commission at a regular session thereof held on the 24th day
of August, 1977.

in the Bozeman Daily Chronicle, a newspaper of general circulation printed and
published in said City in the issue of the 26th day of August, 1977, and due
proof of such publication is on file in my office.
