Rouse Ave. (City Commission Room) Members Attending: Vance Ruff, Ryon Stover, Berk Knighton, Carson Taylor (Commission Liaison) Natalie Meyer (Staff Liaison) A. Call to Order B. Changes to the Agenda C. Approval of Minutes- Approved D. Public Comment - None E. Parent Association Outreach a. Review feedback & next steps i. Positive feedback with interest among participating parents, but limited interested in further disseminating information school-wide. Some Principals indicate that they need support from school administration to distribute the idle-free information. Carson Taylor will follow up with Marilyn King about distributing the idle-free flyers throughout the schools. ii. Remaining elementary schools include: Emily Dickinson, Hawthorne, and Whittier. Natalie will find out from Elin if we ever received a response and will follow-up with these schools. iii. Safe Routes to School Coordinator, Taylor Lonsdale, may be good contact for coordinating a Bike/Walk/Idle Free day at the schools. Natalie will contact Taylor. b. Driver’s education classes i. There may still be an opportunity to present information during driver’s education classes. Carson Taylor will check on available times. F. Outreach Plan a. Review draft Public Service Announcement i. Natalie has not found any appealing examples of radio PSAs related to idling. However, there are some good examples of TV commercials on You Tube. Group viewed a few 10-second commercials from KAIRE, Kentucky. Group agreed we should track down information on use of commercials for social media, Channel 20, and possibly purchased commercial time. Natalie will follow-up. b. Channel 20 Slide i. Natalie presented a slide option for Channel 20. No revisions suggested. Slide will run continuously on Channel 20. c. Swim Center i. Good opportunity to distribute information at both the Swim Center and Bogert pool. Natalie will deliver posters and flyers to Aquatics Superintendent. d. Bozone Article i. Elin was previously considering revising her article and contributing it to the Bozone EcoZone. We should consider including information for local doctor who wrote Elin a thank-you letter. Outside Magazine might also run an article. e. Neighborhood Associations i. INC meetings are the 2nd Thursday of each month. Natalie will look into getting on the agenda for an Idle Free presentation and present information on other programs. f. Greendrinks i. Carson Taylor made arrangements to have the City co-host a Greendrinks event on Wednesday, August 28th. This will be an opportunity to showcase Idle Free Bozeman and other sustainability programs at the City of Bozeman. We will need to find another business or organization to co-host the event since the City cannot purchase alcohol. Bozeman Library Foundation may be a good option. g. Upcoming Events i. Gallatin Earth Celebration 1. Posters complete, feel free to distribute 2. Clean Up Day & E-waste event a. Bozeman Climate Partners will have a table at the Sustainability Fair. The idle free flyers will be distributed. 3. Compost Bin Sale a. May 11th h. FYI/Discussion i. Berk Knighton pointed out that Streamline buses often idle at the downtown transfer station and at MSU. This is an issue that critics will be quick to mention. We should see if there is anything we can do to address the issue. Natalie will get input from David Kack at WTI. ii. Next meeting May 9th.
