Park and Cemetery crews are hard at it maintaining the ice rinks
throughout the season. The colder weather has helped in repairing
the soft ice. We have roughly a month left before the sun gets too
high in the sky and starts melting them regardless of the
temperature.
When not on the ice rinks, crews are busy with various
responsibilities which include garbage, restroom and dog station
maintenance, table repair, garbage rack construction, snow removal,
building painting and maintenance and computer work as time
allows.
Park Improvement Grant applications are streaming in. During our
final push for applications, we will advertize in the paper two
consecutive Sundays, the 17th
and the 24th
. The application deadline
is March 1st
.
We present the operating budget to Chris, Chuck and Anna first
thing Tuesday morning. Highlights include a request for two
additional full-time employees to assist the division as we grow and
help us with the weekend shift. Other than the request for
additional fte’s and some staff training, the division is not requesting
anything that would be considered a significant increase.
Doug and I are meeting with spring/summer User Groups and are
getting the agreements in place earlier than usual. With field space
being the premium, we are inserting the traditional user groups in
their traditional time periods (i.e. softball, soccer baseball, etc…) and
then going back and filling in the gaps with the newer groups.
