HomeMy WebLinkAbout03-13 Galavan / Streamline Directors Report / Director’s Report March 26, 2013 STREAMLINE: Number 606 is parked at our bus barn and is being used for parts. Bus 615 is still at Harlow’s in Whitehall for some warranty electrical work. It has been a battle to keep everything up and running this month. We have had to use the Karst vans on numerous occasions to make sure that the commuter routes were covered. There is only one “Yellowstone” bus in the barn and it has a bad door. M & W has one of our buses and is waiting to work on two more as parts arrive and they get time. Megan Copas will be here Tuesday to talk about bus stops and shelters. She works for Chandler Communications who has been in the mix since the beginning of Streamline. We have had some very interesting and productive talks and think that we can move ahead with some shelters at no cost to us. Thanks to the City of Bozeman Parks Department we have a new sign that has been added to the existing City of Bozeman sign near the entrance into our place on Rouse. It looks good and should make us easier to find. They did a great job with it. GALAVAN: Galavan added 8 new customers in February and gave a total of 1,774 rides in 19 days of service. Our new Galavan has a couple of warranty items that need to be taken care of and then it will be on the street full time. It will be good to have a more reliable bus on the streets. We have had a rash of breakdowns lately, nothing of the truly expensive kind, just little annoyances that cause headaches for drivers and directors and riders. We continue to fight the battle of the budget. Our overtime costs for the last pay period were under 20 hours and will come down even more during the current pay period. We are, however, finding ourselves booking further and further into the future. People must make ride requests several days in advance which is not always convenient or possible. This summer marks the 40th anniversary of Galavan service. Kristin and Sunshine are already working on festivities to mark the occasion. I know some of their plans but I am sure they are open for suggestions and lots of help.
