Bozeman Beautification Advisory Board Minutes for Wednesday, January 16, 2012.
Meeting held at 5:30 p.m. in Conference Room 1, 20 East Olive Street
Board members in attendance: Terry Quatraro, Ellie Staley, Charlotte Knighton, Karyn
Bonderud, Robert Mocerino, William Culbertson, Allyson Brekke (Staff liaison), Quorum
met.
Not in attendance: Jan Bergman, Sean Becker (Commission liaison).
1. Call to Order at 5:35 p.m.
2. Approval of Minutes.
• CK Motion to approve October minutes.
ES Motion seconded.
Motion approved.
3. Disclosure of Information
• None to report.
4. Public Comment.
• No public was in attendance.
5. City Staff Liaison Update
• Clean Up Day 2013 is planned for Saturday, April 20th
• MSU involvement with this year’s GEC plans are somewhat lacking (due to
change in MSU staff)
• BBAB need to know earlier than later on what MSU will provide for Clean Up
Day (if anything)
• BBAB dedicated to putting on Clean Up Day for community
• Group starting sharing some ideas for this year: reserve Clark’s Fork for
breakfast goodies, reserve Island Noodles for food (but figure out who is paying
for it!!!), coordinate with neighborhood groups, provide list of clean up spots in
town with map (include several suggestions that are close to Bogert Park), have
fraternities and sororities involved for big clean up jobs, clarify what types of
trash can be collected in the trash dumpsters (scraps of metal??), make a helpful
list/brochure of “things to remember” to hand out to public, Pacific Steel could
be a part of the day to be able to collect metal scraps/metal recycling
• BBAB members are here to help, so make sure to ask for help
6. Items of Discussion
• 2013 Goals Discussion
• Board reviewed the 2012 goals:
¾ Bozeman Clean Up Day event on April 21st, as part of GEC event –
Sponsor graffiti removal clean up project
¾ Beautification Awards Ceremony in October/November 2012
(Thursday, October 25th or Thursday, November 1st possible dates)

¾ S. 8th Avenue Improvement Project – be involved with design review
¾ Keep informed about the N. 7th Avenue urban renewal board projects.
¾ Support other community groups’ beautification efforts and projects
• 2013 Goals agreed by the Board:
¾ Work towards the City of Bozeman recognizing Sacajawea Park on N. 7th
Avenue as a true City park and start maintaining the property.
¾ Help host Clean Up Day for the Bozeman community on April 20th
¾ Host and present Beautification Awards Ceremony for Bozeman
community on November 6th (reserve location!)
7. Future Agenda Items
• Find out if MSU is participating in GEC so the BBAB knows what expenses they
will be responsible to handle (coordinate with Natalie)
• February 2013 meeting – board members to bring a list of places around town
that need some cleaning up and then have the trash drop off spot next to it (look
at drop off map) – Allyson
• Sacajawea Park on N. 7th Avenue – February 2013 (clarify City ownership – is it a
true City park? – what management of the park is possible? - CTEP project
history)
• New COB Director of Parks & Recreation Introduction – February 2013
• Allyson to check on Beall Center’s availability for Wednesday, November 6th
