HomeMy WebLinkAbout01-17-13 Bozeman Climate Partners MinutesBozeman Climate Partners Communications Working Group Meeting Minutes January 17, 2013, 6:00-6:30 3247 Gardenbrook Lane, Bozeman, MT 1) Call to Order 2) Public Comment – None 3) Website a) Live i) Group likes website; Natalie has heard good feedback, but not a huge volume of comments b) Quarterly newsletter distributed i) Very good ‘opening’ rate; please forward to interested parties, spread the word about the newsletter by word of mouth, and gradual building by our presence at events, etc. c) Promotion 4) Remaining Deliverables a) Sustainability guide – one pager is done! Have been distributing at events. b) Magnets – we have them! They look good, and look nice on the display board. c) Facebook Page- draft is made, can be public after we think through the maintenance/ comment response policy in conjunction with City policies, and our capacity to respond appropriately. Noted the issues the police department has had with obscene/ inappropriate comments on their page – staff assigned to look at it hourly (Natalie does not have time for this). 5) Outreach & Upcoming Events a) January- i) Idle Free Bozeman display in First Security window, Jan 7-14: a success ii) League of Women Voters presentation, Jan 14 : went well iii) Idle Free Bozeman Longfellow Parent Association presentation, Jan 16 : Carson Taylor presented, very receptive audience. Other PAC presentations to follow. iv) BPL Living Your Passion, Chris Boyer, Tuesday Jan 22, 7pm (1) Bozeman Climate Partners display and intro (2) Event had 73 attendees! Very good way to introduce public to the BCP – other outreach tabling events will follow, with the WWA Film Festival being the next on the 31st. b) February- i) Inter-neighborhood Council (INC): we will present info on the Idle Free and Home Energy Solutions workshops, to be shuttled to the INC’s contacts. ii) Idle Free Parent Associations – in progress, will continue as schools fit us into schedule. c) March- i) SWMBIA Home Show: BCP will be ready with home-energy information, along with our general display. 6) FYI/Discussion a) Awards were presented to group members for a job well done! We will be moving to monthly meetings, now that the initial targets of the group have been achieved. Participation in outreach and soliciting outreach opportunities of all types is very much the purpose of this group moving forward. We have the tools to communicate the Community Climate Action Plan, and now we will move forward with it, bringing it the community! b) Jay suggested that the group should be included on all emails sent to other working groups to help maintain communication throughout the month. 7) Next Meeting: Wednesday, February 20
