HomeMy WebLinkAboutreappointment to Pedestrian and traffic safety Commission Memorandum REPORT TO: Honorable Mayor and City Commission FROM: Aimee Brunckhorst, Deputy City Clerk / Board Coordinator Stacy Ulmen CMC, City Clerk SUBJECT: Re-appointment to the Pedestrian and Traffic Safety Committee MEETING DATE: January 14, 2013 MEETING TYPE: Action RECOMMENDATION: Reappoint City appointee Gary Vodehnal to the Pedestrian and Traffic Safety Committee. BACKGROUND: One voting City appointee term on the Pedestrian and Traffic Safety Committee expired on December 31, 2012 and the member has re-applied. Under an Interlocal Agreement dated February 6, 1990 and signed by the State of Montana Department of Transportation, the Bozeman City-County Planning Board, the City of Bozeman, and Gallatin County, the Pedestrian and Traffic Safety Committee is identified “as a sounding board for proposals advanced to the Transportation Coordinating Committee.” The structure of the Committee is somewhat revised under this Interlocal Agreement, with its members being appointed by the City Commission and the County Commission, “from a cross section of the study area's economic and social classes in accordance with the appropriate section of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.” The Committee is advisory, and city appointee members are appointed to staggered two-year terms. This committee currently has one voting City appointee vacancy and one re-applying member. Re-applying applicant: Gary Vodehnal ALTERNATIVES: As suggested by the City Commission.
