Group reviewed preliminary survey results. Discussions of how many surveys we need: as many as we can get from the online survey. Our resources may be tapped for giving the survey in-person. We will keep the survey open for as long as the Chronicle keeps it on their homepage. Thanks Chronicle! Outreach Plans and Materials Finalized handout shown to group (as approved by John Van Delinder and Loni). Includes copy-edits by Elin Prioritizing methods of outreach Car windshields: Group decided to steer away from an approach of giving handouts which could be placed on car windshields. Ruff, Hert, and Meyer thought that this has a lot of potential to backfire, and make people idle their cars more. Want to avoid the anger people get at things on their windshields, and channel more positive emotions. Outreach to schools: Weaver and Hert are very interested in this project. We would like to get the DEQ schools toolkit and supplement it with eye-catching outreach (stickers, buttons, etc), and get a champion at every one of the local schools. A good approach could be going to the monthly meeting of the superintendent with the PACs (Parent Advisory Committees). Weaver is involved with a PAC, will inform us about the necessary scheduling. Potential partner: the City-County Air Quality Board Carson and Berk are both on this: they can help us integrate the efforts of the two groups. Perhaps a representative of this group should go to one of their next few meetings. Posting signs as local businesses Design a new, pretty, Bozeman-specific sign? Yes—group will get a graphic designer to propose a few options. Baker inquired if the commission would pick? Meyer replied that Carson can be a good liaison to the Commission, and help us proceed without getting on the agenda, as they are already super packed. This will be a good, visible thing, and work towards changing norms. Start with places we know will be interested: perhaps in front of Refuge. Weaver pointed out this will get businesses points towards LEED certification. Fliers around town We can use the work from the handouts we have already developed to create something which we will distribute at coffee shops, city hall, the library, and city-county licensing, etc. We can think about getting a graphic designer to do this, pretty up the image and information we already have. Groups will work on other forms of outreach as enthusiasm and time to work on various projects appears. Next steps: get a few copies of the DEQ toolkit for schools, and figure out how to get it embraced by Bozeman schools. Hasn’t really taken off yet, but we want to build on their work to ensure it does. Think about creating a toolkit for local businesses: perhaps window stickers, and delivery-truck policy as well as signs we can put up outside. Adjourn: 4:00 pm
