Website Development
Beta site expected by end of week.
Content compiled – nice work, all.
Ask Kermit: SWMBIA’s green building site
in progress.
Outreach Plan
Schedule input.
Toolkit
Phases:
Powell: need splash for phase one, so people know who we are.
Bennett: can have a soft launch of brand, bigger launch of campaigns.
The BCP is there to support whatever campaigns are launched in the future. Suggests a soft launch of the website, pushing the 10% Energy Reduction Challenge.
Overall strategy: soft entry
to many sorts of splashier campaigns down the road. Splashy things like billboards, bit publicity pushes for specific campaigns that folks can choose to buy into, or not.
Campaigns in
progress now:
10% Energy Reduction Challenge
Ed & Awareness Campaign: focus @ hardware stores. Workshops.
Prize on per square foot basis?
Prize for overall reduction?
Display @ MOR/
Children’s museum/ other on energy efficiency.
Homebuyer’s Ed classes.
Phase 2: potentially focus on finding creative financing, helping folks actually do the work.
Idle Free Bozeman
Info handouts, art contest.
Future: signs?, cut-out
people @ schools? Radio? Other?
Splashy Ideas
Change the way NWE bills appear (Bentley)
Show folks how much they use compared to neighbors, effects big change.
Obvious issue: NWE buy-in.
Expensive to change their billing. It’s standardized across many states. Big hurdles there…
Energy Block Parties: with the INC? Could push for this?
Letter grade for energy efficiency
placed on buildings.
Related to Commercial Building Benchmarking, fear of public scrutiny reason many business owners do not engage. Should be explored further with 10% Challenge!
Next
Meeting:
Natalie will bring info on what is approved in our budget.
Info on Renewable Energy Plan for the community up and coming.
10% Energy Reduction Challenge
Group can suggest campaigns
to put in the queue.
FYI:
Bennett: we should have talks in PechaKucha, and other upcoming events too. Not always best to host our own events; integrating is effective.
