The crew has wrapped up winterizing the irrigation systems and the restroom facilities that we close for the winter. The crew has had a great run at mulching and blowing leaves, they have had one of their more effective years in close to a decade, and obviously weather needs to cooperate for the program to be successful. The daily tasks of garbage collection, dog waste removal, restroom duties, mowing, etc…….. remain steady. In about a week, the crew will start bringing the hockey boards up to Bogert, so we can start the process of getting the rink ready for the winter.  Park Improvement Grant (PIG) project update: met with the subcommittee and talked about the upcoming year. I alerted the committee that I am actively encouraging groups to apply and suggesting potential projects. We have one project still to wrap up and that is the Sourdough/Riley’s bridge project.  Staff has begun the Capital Improvement Plan (CIP)- in which staff identifies projects and or equipment that is over the $10,000 threshold. The plan is over a span of five years and the aforementioned items are plugged into to a fiscal year.  User groups are wrapped up for the fall season- at Christie Park (Lion’s Club midget football), Softball Complex (YMCA’s flag football) and at Bronken (AYSO recreational soccer).  Doug E., our Parks foreman, is now a Certified Playground Safety Inspector (CPSI) after passing the rigorous test.  I have started to engage with the User Groups and am in the early stages of setting up a meeting to get ahead of next year. I do not anticipate many changes other than there will be a big name lacrosse camp that will take place at Bronken in July, after soccer is finished. The lacrosse community is very excited that Rhino lacrosse camp is coming to Montana. From what they are telling me this is the lacrosse equivalent to saying the Manning brothers are coming up here to do a football camp.
