Stacy Ulmen CMC, City Clerk SUBJECT: Mayoral Proclamation for Red Ribbon Week – Oct. 22 – 26th
MEETING DATE: October 22, 2012 MEETING TYPE: Consent RECOMMENDATION: Approve the attached Mayoral Proclamation declaring October 22nd
through 26th Red Ribbon Week to raise awareness of the dangers of alcohol, tobacco and other
drugs, and encourage prevention, early intervention, and treatment services.
BACKGROUND: Ken Spencer, prevention specialist at the Adolescent Resource Center of Alcohol and Drug Services of Gallatin County contacted the clerk’s office regarding the attached
proclamation as one way to show that people in the community support drug prevention. Events
will be held in schools across the city of Bozeman, at all grade levels. This year’s theme is “The
Best Me Is Drug Free.” Mayor Becker would like the Commission to add their support for this Mayoral Proclamation.
ALTERNATIVES: As suggested by the City Commission.
