2.Rebecca reported on the webinar that was held on the National Association of City
Transportation Officials (NACTO) Urban Bikeway Design Guide (Best Practices of Bike Design)
which was very well attended. There was a discussion around how best to use the information
that was presented in this webinar, which is also in the publication of the same name that was
produced by Joe Gilpin.

There was some discussion around how to utilize the information provided in the Best Practices
to make cycling safer in bozeman. North 19th and 25th between Durston and Oak were brought
up as potential sites.
ACTION ITEM: Rebecca to check with Joe Gilpin to see if he is available to be present at our
next board meeting to field questions. If Joe is available, invite Rick Hicks, Andy Kerr and Craig
Woolard to discuss how this information could be used to make Bozeman a more bikeable city.
3.The 2nd annual Bozeman Bike Count will take place next week. Press coverage has started
with an article in the Chronicle. Rebecca and Elizabeth created 1-page information sheets and
intersection-specific diagrams for volunteers.Volunteers have signed up for count locations, and
as of Wednesday, September 5th, very few volunteers slots remain vacant.
On Monday from 4:30-6pm, Rebecca and Sarah will be at City Hall in case any volunteers have
questions regarding the count.
4.Rebecca reported on the results of the study on a bike share program that was conducted this
summer with the help of MSU students. Based on the response, the best option for Bozeman
would be a low-tech program that included downtown Bozeman and the MSU campus. There is
no funding at this point.
ACTION ITEM: Rebecca to update the board as the project moves forward and send out the
report from the findings.
5.Elizabeth is leaving BABA for the Bozeman School Board. Goodbye Elizabeth! We’ll miss you!
Elizabeth’s resignation opens up a vacant seat on the Bike Board. Applications will be reviewed
before the next meeting and a discussion and recommendation to the City Commission will be
made.
ACTION ITEM: All to review applications before October’s BABAB meeting.
