HomeMy WebLinkAbout09-12 Recreation Department Report Recreation Department Report Prepared by: Jamie Saitta September 6, 2012 Our fall programs are in full swing! We are excited to be offering new full day camps for kids age 6-10 when school is out for PIR Days. Our first camp is called Bikes and Boulders and will include visits to our city boulders as well as swimming at the Swim Center. The camps run from 7:45am-5:30pm and are perfect for working parents. We are also extending our “Little Explorers” Tours of Bozeman into the fall, winter and spring. This very popular program for kids age 2-6 and parents takes us to a variety of different businesses throughout the valley. Some examples are: Summit Aviation, Rocky Creek Farm, Heart of the Valley Animal Shelter and the Bozeman Fire Department. To date almost all of our tours are full. Adult program expansion is happening this fall with the introduction of a women’s specific archery program at Big Sky Archery. This class is already full with 20 participants! We plan to add a session due to its popularity. Our summer kickball league was so successful that we decided to offer another one during the fall. We have 6 very eager teams signed up! We are also launching an adult dodgeball league for ages 18 and up at the Hope Lutheran Church gym on Thursday nights in October. We are in the process of hiring another part time recreation leader to help us plan and implement our programs. Once this person is hired we will be up to 4 part time leaders working year round. We are moving forward with the Lindley Center Deck project. Updated plans have been drawn and are with the building department for review. The deck was downsized because the original bids were outside of our budget.
