SUBJECT: Mayoral Proclamation Declaring September, 2012 as Thriving
Communities Month
MEETING DATE: September 10, 2012
MEETING TYPE: Consent
RECOMMENDATION: Approve the attached Mayoral Proclamation declaring September,
2012 as Thriving Communities Month.
BACKGROUND: Local non-profit Thrive contacted Mayor Sean Becker regarding this
proclamation and he would ask that the Commission join him in supporting Thriving
Communities Month.
ALTERNATIVES: As suggested by the City Commission.

WHEREAS, Gallatin County has many characteristics that makes it a
wonderful place to live; and,
WHEREAS, all members of our community wish to retain a high quality of
life; and,
WHEREAS, we recognize that when families are strong and children are
successful, communities Thrive; and,
WHEREAS, when communities create a culture where families and children
are supported everyone benefits; and,
WHEREAS, for 26 years Thrive has designed signature programs that
support healthy family/child growth and development based on the unique climate
of the Gallatin Valley; and,
WHEREAS, the programs: The Parent Place, the Child Advancement
Project (CAP), the Parent Liaison Program, the Partnership Project, and Girls for a
Change ensure that families are strong and children are successful;
NOW THEREFORE, I PROCLAIM SEPTEMBER AS
TTThhhrrriiivvviiinnnggg CCCooommmmmmuuunnniiitttyyy MMMooonnnttthhh
We urge everyone to support families and children this September. Our efforts will
ensure a thriving community.
