COMMISSION RESOLUTION NO. 2177
A RESOLUTON OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BOZEMAN,
MONTANA, INDICATING THE CITY'S INTENT TO EXCEED THE CURRENT
MILL LEVY FOR GENERAL FUND PURPOSES ON THE APPROVAL OF THE
ELECTORA TE:
ESTABLISHING A CERTAIN LEVIED DOLLAR AMOUNT, SAID
ADDITIONAL DOLLAR AMOUNT OF MONIES RAISED TO BE USED BY THE

CITY OF BOZEMAN FOR OPERATING THE CITY'S
ALL-PUPROSE GENERAL
FUND:
INDICATING THE APPROXIMATE NUMBER OF MILLS NECESSARY
TO OPERATE THE CITY'S ALL-PURPOSE GENERAL FUND:
SETTING THE
DATE AT WHICH THE QUESTION OF THE ADDITIONAL MILL LEVY
WILL
BE SUBMITTED TO THE QUALIFIED ELECTORS OF THE MUNICIPALITY;
AND SETTING FORTH
PROCEDURES FOR CONDUCT OF THE ELECTION.
WHEREAS, the City of Bozeman, Montana, has thoroughly reviewed the capital,
salary and operations expenditures for the City's All-Purpose General Fund in preparation
of an operating budget for Fiscal Year 1980-1981; and
WHEREAS, expenditures monitoring and expenditure reductions over the past
two fiscal years have reduced City operating costs to minimum levels; and
WHEREAS, the City has conducted a complete analysis of revenue over the past
three fiscal years; and
WHEREAS, the City staff has projected the total possible collectible revenue
for Fiscal Year 1980-1981; and
WHEREAS, it appears that expenditure levels necessary to provide services
to the citizens of the City of Bozeman at previous levels, cannot be maintained by
existing revenue; and

WHEREAS, the City Commission and the City staff have explored all possible
options to increase the City's collectible revenues; and
WHEREAS, Section 7-6-4431, M.C.A., 1979 permits municipalities
in the State
of Montana to exceed the previously established sixty-five (65) mill levy ceiling for
the All-Purpose General Fund; and
WHEREAS, Section 7-6-4431, M.C.A., 1979 provides for the mechanism necessary
to exceed the previously established sixty-five (65) mill levy limitation for the
All-Purpose General Fund for a period not to exceed two years, in order to support City
services by providing revenue sources which are adequate to meet City expenditures.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Commission of the City of Bozeman,
Montana, to-wit:
Section 1
That the revenue derived from the special mill levy election as provided
herein will be used to support the City's All-Purposed General Fund, and more specifically
for salaries, operations and capital to return City services to previous levels existing
prior to the temporary termination of some full time employees which occurred in the

spring of 1979.
Section 2
That the specific amount required to return said services,
and the amount
necessary to be placed at issue before the qualified electorate of the City of Bozeman
is $284,000.00.

Section 3
That the above-stated amount, necessary to maintain City service at previous
levels, represents 12.65
mills.
Section 4
The specific mill levy to be exceeded is 65 Mills.

Section 5
That said additional mill levy as stated herein shall be placed at issue
before the qualified
electorate of the City of Bozeman at the State primary election
to be held on June 3,
1980; and the wording of the proposal to be placed on the ballot
shall indicate that the
mill levy established herein (12.65 mills) shall be assessed
and utilized to return
City services to previous levels.
Section 6
That the City Commission of the City of Bozeman, Montana hereby instructs
the County Clerk and
Recorder to proceed with an election as set forth on the date herein
specified in accordance
with the provisions of Section 7-6-4431, M.C.A., 1979 and the
election laws of the
State of Montana.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Commission of the City of Bozeman, Montana,
this 2nd day of April,
1980.
