SUBJECT: Letter of Support naming the City of Bozeman as an “Antam
Community City” embracing Indonesia’s Antam Mining Company’s efforts of developing potential young managers to be future leaders along with lecturers by sending them to Montana
State University.

RECOMMENDATION: Approve a letter of support naming the City of Bozeman as an
“Antam Community City” embracing Indonesia’s Antam Mining Company’s efforts of developing potential young managers to be future leaders and lecturers by sending them to Montana State
University.
BACKGROUND: A request was made by Advisor Didik I. Kuntadi asking that the City of Bozeman name itself an “Antam Community City”. Antam is a state owned Mining Company in Indonesia who is currently developing to become a World Class Company in 2020.
The City has been notified that in order for Antam to meet this objective, they need to develop
potential young managers to be future leaders who can compete globally. They also wish to send
lecturers from Universities where their mining operations operate, in order to improve teaching skills. Antam is considering sending their employees to Montana State University to attend a one-year non degree program to broaden their horizons.
Being an “Antam Community City” means that Bozeman welcomes Antam’s employees to live
in the community while studying at Montana State University. ALTERNATIVES: As suggested by the City Commission.

Kuntadi; The City of Bozeman would like to extend its support by naming our great City as an “Antam Community City” embracing Antam Mining Company’s efforts of developing potential young managers to be future leaders along with lecturers from Universities to improve teaching skills. In 2009, The City adopted a Resolution declaring that “All are Welcome Here” honoring and welcoming human diversity in the community. The City understands the importance of developing managers and future leaders and fully supports attendance at Montana State University recognizing the opportunities that it will provide to all of the students and attendees that will be able to take part in this great experience. Montana State University and the City of Bozeman have created a close connection over the years collaborating on many projects and initiatives and this presents another wonderful opportunity for the University and the City to work together. We look forward to welcoming your employees that might attend Montana State University, allowing them to see the beauty of Montana and show them the hospitality that Montanans show not only to each other, but visitors through our great state. More importantly, we look forward to making friends and improving relationships between our countries, universities, and to making friends that tie us together in ways that promote peace, freedom and prosperity in our world.
