Discussion and round-table voting yielded 2A-2 as the winner. 6) Website Discovery with Brad Bunkers a. Review Proposal, Q and Concerns i. Bennett remarked that he thought the process was well laid out, very detailed. ii. Meyer and Bunkers discussed the timeline proposed in the RFP before the meeting, and have decided that for a variety of reasons, it makes sense to push the anticipated launch date back to the first week of September (just one week). iii. The group will adhere to the timeline as stated in the RFP: • Contractor Meets with Working Group 07/12/2012 • Contractor Proposes Design Concepts 07/25/2012 (this will be circulated electronically) • Working Group Meeting Aug 1St: working group will discuss design, pick direction. • Beta Site Established 08/08/2012 • Quarantine Begins (no new concepts) 08/17/2012 • Proposed Site Launch 08/31/2012: MOVED BACK ONE WEEK b. Review Site Outline i. Discussion of features/news, summarizing discussions in this vein the group has had previously. 1. Showed Bunkers websites of the Greater Yellowstone Coalition (like the pictures associated with news stories), Portland CAN (nice icons). 2. Bunkers suggested hosting these features/ news stories in a"blog",though it needn't be called a blog. 3. Bennett commented that this was a good idea, that it can be easily archived, and helps your SEO to host this internally as a blog, though it needn't necessarily appear that way.A convenient way to host events and news, with automatic archiving. 4. Photos and Content: how will group compile these? a. Text: GoogleDoc,already being used. i. Beswick will start to edit content on the 23rd, our deadline for finalized text. Before then, she thinks it will be too problematic to edit (if group members are still editing their own content, adding things). b. Pictures: Bunkers suggested using Box.net. i. Deadline to upload pictures from this group is the 19th. Bunkers will use our photos as a library to draw from in design. We may need to supplement this with stock photography, or even commission a local photographer as necessary. 5. Calendar: NO! a. Calendars are not a good thing to include on a website, unless they are well-populated. Group thought there are likely way too many climate/sustainability themed events to put on this calendar, and it would require constant upkeep. Blog/ events tab is a better way to go. c. Site Design Discussion i. Conversation about what we like in a website of this purpose. Many pictures, easily navigable, full of stories and resources. News, Features, and Events are of utmost importance to the site. ii. Features: can we get these before launch?Yes,says baker. We need 3 at least before launch; this seemed workable. iii. Nominations for initial features: Streamline, Solar Panels (Susan Bilo), and the Weatherization Center. d. Hosting and SEO i. Hosting recommended through BluHost.com. Inquiry as to whether we can host through a renewable-powered company? Perhaps - Bunkers will look into the issue for the group. Reliability and ease of use may be a bigger consideration. ii. We will purchase all 3 endings: .com,. .net. .org and decide later which we will advertise. All 3 can be shuttled to the same site, this will eliminate any defamatory websites, etc with similar names. iii. SEO: shouldn't be an issue, with the depth of content we have. There are websites that are designed primarily with SEO (not people) in mind: not as readable. With our amount of content, we should be good on this front. 7) Review milestones and next steps: a. Picture Upload Deadline: July 191h. b. Final Content Deadline: July 23rd.
