SUBJECT: (Re) appointments to the Beautification Advisory Board
MEETING DATE: July 23, 2012

RECOMMENDATION: Reappoint one member and appoint one new applicant to the
Beautification Advisory Board.
BACKGROUND: The Beautification Advisory Board currently has three ongoing
vacancies and a member with a term expiration of June 30, 2012.
The member with a term expiring has applied for another term and
one new application has been received.
The Beautification Advisory Board was created under Ordinance No. 1360, Chapter 2.84,
Bozeman Municipal Code. The board consists of up to nine members, to be appointed to
staggered three-year terms. Persons must be of legal age. A majority of the members must be
residents of the city; and non-resident members shall “have some interest in the city by virtue of
working in the city, owning property in the city, or entering the city frequently for any lawful
purpose.”
The board is to identify, investigate, and recommend community beautification projects and
programs; investigate and pursue possible funding sources for beautification projects, in
coordination with City staff; and advise the Commission concerning beautification of City-
owned properties and facilities.
The Beautification Advisory Board currently has three vacancies, a term expiration, one
reapplying applicant and one new applicant.

Please explain your relevant qualifications, interests and experiences: After spending 3 years on the City
of Flagstaff's Beautification and Public Art Commission from 2006-2009, I considered myself positioned
to provide my experience for the Beautification Advisory Board. I feel very fortunate that the City of
Bozeman also places high values on beautification initiatives and projects. As a returning resident of
Bozeman, I am looking forward to meeting like minded individuals in the community and bringing my 12
years of professional graphic design, art and educational experience back to the community. For more

The Bozeman City Charter voted in by the citizens of Bozeman in 2008 requires yearly ethics training. If
