Commission Memorandum
REPORT TO: Honorable Mayor and City Commission
FROM: Aimee Kissel, Deputy City Clerk / Advisory Board Coordinator
Stacy Ulmen CMC, City Clerk SUBJECT: Appointments to the Recreation and Parks Advisory Board
MEETING DATE: July 16, 2012 MEETING TYPE: Action RECOMMENDATION: Appoint up to two applicants to the Recreation and Parks Advisory
Board.
RECOMMENDED MOTION: I move to appoint Lee Poole as an at-large representative with a term expiring December 31, 2013 and Liz O’Donnell as a student representative to the
Recreation and Parks Advisory Board with a term expiring October 2, 2013.
BACKGROUND: The Recreation and Parks Advisory Board has three vacancies, two of which
are for college students. Since the student representative positions expire yearly in October, I recommend that the Commission set the term expiration for next year so the applicant will not
need to apply again after attending only 1 or 2 meetings.
The Recreation and Parks Advisory Board is established under Section 2.36.030 of the Bozeman
Municipal Code. It consists of up to fourteen members who serve three-year terms, except for the two students, who serve one-year terms. They shall represent as many facets of recreational
programs as possible.
A majority of the members, regardless of the Board's size, shall be residents of the City. The
Board is advisory, making recommendations to the City Commission on policy and procedural matters in the field of recreation and playgrounds as well as parkland dedications or cash-in-lieu
proposals forwarded during the planning/subdivision process.
There are three vacancies and two applicants.
New Applicant: Liz O’Donnell (student)
Lee Poole (at-large)
ALTERNATIVES: As suggested by the City Commission. Attachments: Board Applications
