2304
THE RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BOZEMAN, MONTANA,
AFFIRMING THE IMPLEMENTATION OF EQUAL EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY AND AFFIRM-
ATIVE ACTION WITHIN THE PERSONNEL POLICIES OF THE CITY OF BOZEMAN
WHEREAS, this commitment provides equal employment opportunity to all
persons on the
basis of individual qualifications and merit without regard to race, creed, religion, color, sex,

age, national origin, marital status, family relationships - unless considered to fall within the
,definition of nepotism, political affiliation or other non-merit factot;,.except,forppnaf:id,e
occupational reasons: and
WHEREAS, it is recognized that a pOlicy of non-discrimination without
commitment to
implementation is insufficient when attempting to reverse historic patterns and practices of
discrimination. There is, therefore, a necessity
to continue and strengthen innovative affirma-
tive action programs in order to remedy any past practices which may have excluded certain
classes of people, or which may have created barriers to equal employment opportunity for those
affected classes of people; and:
WHEREAS, this commitment to implement equal opportunity in employment
programs shall
include, but is not limited to, the following areas,
(1)
recruitment - advertising and solicitation for employment;
(2)
examination - hiring, placement, up-grading, transfer or demotion;
(3)
assignment of duties or granting of rights and benefits;
(4)
treatment during employment;
(5)
rates of payor other forms of compensation;
(6)
selection for training;
(7)
layoff or termination;
(8)
return from layoff;

(9)
all other terms, conditions and privileges or employment
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Commission of the City
of Bozeman, declares
it to be its policy that managerial and supervisory personnel of the City shall adhere to both the
~pirit and letter of this resolution, thereby displaying an exemplary role in equal employment
opportunity in practice as well as principle for all employees of the City of Bozeman.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Commission of the City of Bozeman, at
a regular stated
